We are Martin and Louise, We live in Swanage, Dorset and have a love of sailing. We have a Gemini 105mc Catamaran, on which we spend most of our holidays.
Let’s just explain the name of the website and our blog
In 2000 Louise suffered renal failure. Her first transplant failed but her 2nd transplant in 2015 is, (touch wood) still going strong. What is not common knowledge is the original kidneys are usually left in place, so she has now got 4 Kidneys.

In 2015 I had a Hip replacement, which went well. However it dislocated 18 months later and has done so another 6 times to date. Hence the Wonky leg.
This year we are embarking on a 4 month cruise, sailing around Great Britain. This will be quite tough at times, with long passages, bad weather, whirlpools, to name but a few downsides. The upside is an adventure of a lifetime.
To say thank you for the care and support we have received over the years, we would like to raise awareness and funds for the WESSEX KIDNEY PATIENTS ASSOCIATION who support kidney patients and their families in Hampshire, West Sussex, and Wiltshire.
If everything goes to plan we leave on April 29th 2022.
The Wessex Kidney Patients Association is a charity that helps patients and their families deal with the upheaval caused by Kidney disease. If you enjoy reading our blog please consider giving to this cause . Many thanks Louise & Martin
