Day 3. Chichester Harbour to Brighton.

Now we are in Brighton, we have reached the limit of our navigational experience. This is the furthest East Louise and I have ever sailed. From now until the Scillies it’s ” uncharted waters” so to speak.

Not much to report today as it was cold, murky and almost windless day, we motored for 7 hours and dodged a few fishing pots.

Day 3’s problem is the chartplotter which has developed a habit of “freezing”, happily we have alternative electronics or last resort paper charts!

We have a shorter hop to Eastbourne tomorrow, where we will stop for a couple of days.

Thanks for all the likes and comments on of facebook and Instagram pages.

Trip 40 miles Total so far 101 miles.

Well done, I remember that milestone, everything from now on is new.

My plan from Brighton was to go direct to Dover but it was think fog when I set off so had to use AIS and radar! Then off Eastbourne for some reason he radar and chart plotter took a dislike to each other and alarms went off. I decided the seamanship thing was to go into Eastbourne but it was still think for. I called up the harbour master as I had to hang around for an hour or so for enough water. He said just find the fairway buoy and come in. Impossible In the fog. Eventually a returning fishing boat came to my aid, but even he had to weave all over the place to find the harbour wall to lead him in. Hope your next step is simple and challenge free. All the best.
